Research Objectives:

To investigate bat species richness in Luambe National Park

Within the framework of biodiversity monitoring endeavours in Luambe National Park, Nsanga Conservation Zambia has established a collaborative partnership with the non-governmental organization Bats Without Borders (BWB) to evaluate bat species richness across diverse habitats within the national park.

The project primarily employs static bat audio recorders and hand-held bat recorders to capture comprehensive data. Additionally, a single live-trapping session was conducted in 2018 as part of the comprehensive assessment. The outcomes of this collaborative effort have yielded noteworthy discoveries, with several bat species newly identified within the confines of Luambe National Park since the initiation of the project. This study aims to enhance our understanding of the park’s bat diversity and contribute valuable insights to ongoing biodiversity conservation initiatives.
