Geographical Range: Chitungulu Chiefdom, Lumimba Game Management Area

Objectives:
- Provide essential resources and investments for the Chitungulu Community to run Kamukonzo Campsite
- Support the management of the tourism business.
Tourism serves as a vital catalyst for local income, employment, and overall development in communities situated proximately to wildlife regions in Africa, and the Luangwa Valley in Zambia is no exception. In 2018, Nsanga Conservation Zambia, in collaboration with Luambe Camp & Conservation, an established tourism lodge, facilitated the transfer of their well-established tourism campsite to the Chitungulu Community. Strategically located just a 30-minute drive north of Luambe Camp and in direct proximity to the national park boundary, this initiative empowered the Chitungulu community to harness income generated by a substantial influx of self-driving tourists annually.
The Kamukonzo Campsite is now under the management of the Community Resource Board of the Chitungulu Chiefdom, overseeing all aspects of staff, maintenance, and financing. Crucially, the entirety of the generated income is reinvested within the community. This includes covering the operational and licensing costs of the business, with a designated percentage directed to a development fund. This innovative approach ensures that the benefits of tourism directly contribute to the well-being and advancement of the Chitungulu community, aligning with sustainable and community-driven conservation practices.
