Objectives:
To offer various activities centered around conservation education to increase wildlife knowledge and conservation awareness in the local communities.

Human activities have precipitated significant declines in global wildlife species, with certain species experiencing more pronounced impacts. Sensitizing local communities to the crucial role of wildlife is paramount, considering both short-term benefits such as tourism-driven income and long-term environmental stability, including climate regulation, flood prevention, and crop pollination.

In 2023, the Nsanga Conservation Zambia, in collaboration with the Caring for Conservation Fund and the Chitungulu Foundation, featured a conservation-themed initiative. A novel approach involved engaging approximately 150 children from two schools in Chitungulu, a community just north of Luambe National Park, in painting sessions where they depicted wildlife, particularly vultures, on their school walls. These interactive workshops aimed to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of wildlife among the children, thereby promoting a culture of conservation.

The children’s artwork, prominently displayed on school walls, served as a constant reminder of the importance of wildlife conservation. This visual and participatory method proved effective in reshaping attitudes towards wildlife and underlining the significance of conservation for environmental sustainability.

The success of these painting workshops has prompted plans for continued engagement and expanded activities in 2024. This initiative demonstrates the effectiveness of creative educational approaches in instilling conservation awareness among young minds, thereby contributing to the broader goal of environmental sustainability in the region.
