Nsanga Conservation offers a unique opportunity for university students to conduct research in the remote Luangwa Valley in Zambia, a region distinguished by its pristine ecosystems and high levels of endemism due to its unique geographical configuration, bounded by escarpments on both sides.

Conservationists and scientists require more studies to understand the intricate ecological processes and biodiversity present in this area. Nsanga Conservation supports research efforts focused on these topics and applied conservation methods to improve ecological outcomes.

If you are considering a research project in the Luangwa Valley, we can guide you through the process of obtaining the necessary permits and support your work on-site. Please note that while we are a non-profit organization, project leaders are expected to cover their own expenses, including food, accommodation, and transportation, with costs averaging around $25 per day (which may vary depending on the season). Furthermore, you will be charged with permit costs which vary in their amount.

Copperbelt University

Additionally, all research projects must be carried out in collaboration with Copperbelt University in Kitwe, our Zambian partner institution. This typically involves including at least one undergraduate or graduate student from the university’s Wildlife Management program or a related field in your research team.

Please be aware that research permits are issued by Zambia’s Department of National Parks and Wildlife, and while we have experience in navigating the application process, we cannot guarantee permit approval.
